Simple, Fair & Transparent
At HairCity, we want renting a premium human hair wig to feel simple, secure and transparent.
A refundable security deposit may be required when renting selected HairCity wigs. The deposit helps protect our rental collection against loss, damage or other costs beyond normal wear while allowing us to continue offering high-quality wigs to every customer.
The applicable deposit will be clearly communicated before your rental is confirmed.
What Is a Security Deposit?
A security deposit is an amount paid in addition to the rental fee and held for the duration of your rental.
It is not part of the rental price and is normally refundable after the wig has been returned on time and assessed in accordance with HairCity's rental conditions.
Think of it as security for the rental item while it is in your care.
Why Does HairCity Require a Deposit?
Our rental collection includes valuable human hair wigs that must be professionally maintained and prepared between customers.
Security deposits help us protect these wigs against significant damage, loss, unauthorized alterations and other costs that may arise during a rental.
They also help HairCity maintain a premium rental collection that customers can book with confidence.
How Much Is the Deposit?
Security deposits may vary from one wig to another.
The amount may be determined by factors such as the wig's value, hair length, construction, replacement cost and other relevant characteristics.
Where a security deposit applies, the required amount will be displayed on the product page, during the booking process or otherwise communicated before your rental is confirmed.
When Do I Pay the Deposit?
Where required, the security deposit must be paid as part of the rental booking or within the timeframe specified by HairCity.
A rental may not be considered fully confirmed until all required payments, including the applicable security deposit, have been received.
Is My Deposit Refundable?
Yes. A rental security deposit is intended to be refundable, subject to the applicable rental conditions.
Following the return of your wig, HairCity will inspect it and any accompanying rental items.
Where everything has been returned on time and in acceptable condition, and there are no outstanding amounts associated with the rental, the refundable deposit will be processed in accordance with HairCity's applicable rental terms.
What Happens When I Return My Wig?
Every returned rental wig is assessed before the security deposit is released.
We may check:
- The condition of the wig and lace;
- Whether the correct wig has been returned;
- Whether all supplied accessories or other rental items have been returned;
- Whether unauthorized alterations have been made;
- Whether there is damage beyond reasonable wear;
- Whether the wig was returned within the agreed rental period; and
- Whether any outstanding rental charges are due.
Normal use consistent with the agreed rental conditions should not result in a deduction simply because the wig has been worn.
When Could HairCity Make a Deduction?
Depending on the circumstances and the applicable rental terms, deductions may be made where HairCity incurs costs because of matters such as:
- Damage beyond reasonable wear;
- Torn or significantly damaged lace;
- Unauthorized cutting, colouring, bleaching or chemical treatment;
- Unauthorized permanent alterations;
- Missing accessories or supplied items;
- Excessive contamination requiring treatment beyond normal rental preparation;
- Late return charges;
- Loss of the wig; or
- Failure to return the rental.
Any assessment will take into account the nature and extent of the issue and the applicable HairCity rental conditions.
What Counts as Normal Wear?
We understand that a rental wig is meant to be worn.
Minor effects arising from reasonable use during an ordinary rental should not automatically be treated as damage.
However, significant physical damage, unauthorized modification, neglect or use contrary to HairCity's rental-care requirements may result in charges.
Our objective is to apply deposit deductions reasonably and fairly—not to penalize customers for simply enjoying their rental.
What If the Wig Is Lost or Seriously Damaged?
If a rental wig is lost, not returned or damaged beyond economical repair, the customer may be responsible for charges up to the applicable replacement value, subject to HairCity's rental terms.
The security deposit may be applied toward amounts due.
If the amount owed exceeds the security deposit, the customer may remain responsible for the outstanding balance where provided for under the rental agreement.
How Is My Deposit Returned?
Approved deposit refunds will normally be returned using the applicable refund method available for your transaction or another method agreed with HairCity.
Processing times may vary depending on the payment method or financial service provider involved.
HairCity will provide or communicate the applicable refund arrangements where necessary.
Security Deposit vs Rental Fee
These are two different charges.
Rental Fee
This is the amount you pay for the right to use the wig for the agreed rental period. It is not returned simply because the wig has been returned.
Security Deposit
This is security held against the rental wig and is normally refundable after the wig is returned and passes the applicable return assessment.
For example, if a rental has a rental fee and a refundable security deposit, both may be payable when booking, but only the security deposit is potentially returned after the rental.
Security Deposit vs Booking Deposit
HairCity may also use the term booking deposit or reservation payment for certain transactions.
A booking deposit is different from a security deposit.
A security deposit protects the rental item and may be refundable after its satisfactory return.
A booking deposit is an advance payment used to secure an order, reservation or service and may form part of the total amount payable.
Where either type of deposit applies, HairCity will identify it clearly so that you understand what you are paying for.
Late Returns
Rental wigs must be returned by the agreed return date.
Late returns can affect customers who have booked the same wig after you and may therefore result in additional charges under HairCity's rental terms.
Where permitted under the applicable agreement, outstanding late charges may be deducted from the security deposit.
If you believe you will be unable to return your wig on time, please contact HairCity as soon as possible.
Can I Extend My Rental Instead?
An extension may be possible where the wig has not already been reserved by another customer.
Please contact HairCity before your scheduled return date to request an extension.
Extensions are not automatic and are only confirmed once HairCity has approved the request and any additional rental charges have been paid or agreed.
Protecting Your Deposit
Looking after your rental wig is the easiest way to protect your refundable deposit.
Please follow the care instructions supplied with your rental, avoid unauthorized alterations, keep the wig away from circumstances likely to cause avoidable damage, and return all supplied items by the agreed date.
If you're unsure whether something can be done to your rental wig, ask HairCity before doing it.
Fair Assessments. Clear Communication.
HairCity believes deposit arrangements should protect both the customer and our rental collection.
If a deduction is considered necessary, we aim to assess the returned item fairly based on its condition and the applicable rental terms.
Where appropriate, the reason for a deduction and the relevant charge will be communicated to the customer.
